Well, helloo~~~~~~~
This blog update is long due, and I'm sorry that I didn't write much this month. I had to adjust and find my routine in my new way of living, a full time -- on-site --- wagie (well software developer / web developer / IT; the details are vague). Also, without Internet at the dorm, I'm writing this at the work computer.
So, let's start with health, because that is most important. I have lost the time to ride my mountain bike on the weekdays. I cannot, for the life of me, get the time / motivation to pick up the good ol' bike and stroll outside. My routine for the night is as shown below:
Congratulations it already 10pm!! I might sneak in 3 sets of pushups and pull ups (more on this later) in the middle but that is pretty much the weeknight. So, it's not a surprise to say that my old routine of cycling is gone.
I no longer have cardio fitting on my schedule. I guess you can consider the walk I'm doing to and fro the shuttle terminal from work as cardio LOL. Anyway, I have a lot of energy on my legs right now that does not know what to do. So of course, I focused on other fitness stuff.
If you haven't considered doing pull ups, you have no idea how hard it is. According to the internet, being able to do one clean pull up is already peak masculinity. I am not there yet. I am still struggling even on a dead hang. I am still working out how I would progress with this, but this is what I currently do.
Fit in the pushup sets here and tadah that is my workout routine every day.
On the topic of diet, I am gaining weight. I still haven't adjusted to my sedentary lifestyle and still currently eating like I'm doing 40km trips with my mountain bike. Don't worry though, I have it in check I just had to feel this 'eating at a surplus to gain muscle'. I may be overdoing it, if so, I'll adjust accordingly. My app says I'm eating around 1900-2000 while active, I'm bringing that down to 1600-1700, a more sedentary number.
Books! I have finished The Diary of a Young Girl and currently chipping away at The Origin of Species by Charles Darwin. What a read is all I have to say. In contrast to what I usually read, this is pretty much a scientific piece of literature, so you really have to get those brain cells firing to even comprehend the twists of argumentation of the author. I love it though, just like what Winston from 1984 says, a good book only tells you things you already know, which I think is a remarkable statement (that would mean all academic books that will help you learn new things are bad lol). That said I'm already eyeing my next book: Meditations, if you know you know. I might even consider dropping Charles Darwin altogether.
WORK! Work is fun, I am now a PHP developer. I think this PHP thing is extremely powerful, even more so than django (or maybe I'm just a bad Django dev). Thing is, if you want something done in PHP, it will be done with not alot of code, just some inserting some sketchy code somewhere. There really aren't much restriction on how you can manipulate php files. Also, there is the html css javascript tech stack, which gives you 99 solutions to 1 problem, 98 of which are retarded bloat and 1 is a clean php driven method.
I guess that is about it. I might consider redoing the website, here at work we use adminlte to create the UI and I think it will work here as well. But don't get your hopes up! I have a lot on my plate as it is.
